Privacy policy
Effective October 29, 2026.Habits is a personal habit tracker operated by Into the Awesome LLC. This policy explains how we handle information when you use habits.day, app.habits.day, or the Habits iPhone app.
Optional marketing website analytics
With your permission, the public marketing pages at habits.day use Google Analytics 4 to measure page visits and clicks on the App Store and web app links. This is separate from the product analytics described below. Google Analytics is not installed in the Habits web app or iPhone app. We do not send habit names, Health data, journal entries, account identifiers, planner inputs, or URL query strings to Google Analytics. We disable advertising personalization and Google signals in the website tag.
Optional analytics uses browser cookies and sends Google technical information about the visit and device. We send the marketing page path and the referring website's origin, rather than full referring URLs. Choose No thanks to use the site without loading the Google Analytics tag. You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the marketing footer. Your preference is stored in this browser; a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal prevents analytics from loading. Changing your choice does not erase data already received by Google. See Google's privacy policy for its processing practices.
Information we collect
We store your account email and account identifier, the habits and goals you enter, completion history, optional weight entries, and preferences such as time zone and weight units. This information can include health-related details you choose to enter.
If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides your account identifier, email address, and basic profile information, such as your name and profile picture. We use this information to create or authenticate your Habits account. Habits does not request access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or contacts. Apple Health is available only in the iPhone app, with your permission.
For adult accounts, to understand usage and reliability, we store account-linked dates of visits and check-in edits, whether a journal has habits or check-ins, and fixed categories of sync problems with the app version. These analytics do not copy habit names, goals, or weight values. If you send a support request, we store your message, category, account identifier, app version, timestamps, and request status.
If you enable browser reminders, we store a device push subscription (its delivery endpoint and encryption keys), your chosen time and time zone, and whether reminders are enabled. We use your saved schedule and check-ins to skip unnecessary reminders. Limited delivery records are kept for up to 30 days for retries and duplicate protection. You can pause reminders in Settings; signing out disconnects this browser’s subscription.
You can try Habits without an account. Your guest habits and check-ins stay in this browser until you choose to save them to an account. Clearing site data can remove an unsaved draft. Email confirmation on another device does not transfer the draft; return to the original browser to save it.
Anonymous usage counts
On the web and iPhone, Habits counts basic actions such as opening the app, playing the demo, starting a trial, adding habits, manually checking a habit, opening a save prompt, using a signed-in session, and importing trial progress. Our product analytics database stores only a daily total for each action and platform (web or iPhone). It does not store individual event records, account or device identifiers, IP addresses, location, age, habit names, goals, measurements, Health readings or full URLs in these counters. Automatic Apple Health updates do not send check-in analytics. We do not use these totals to identify people, construct individual journeys, or target ads. They measure actions, not unique people or individual conversion rates.
These counts are on by default, independently of age or region. You can turn them off in Settings → Preferences → Anonymous usage counts on each device. We preserve an existing analytics opt-out, and the web app honors Global Privacy Control. This device preference is not uploaded. We do not retry or queue analytics when offline. Aggregate totals are retained for up to 400 days and cannot be attributed to, or removed for, an individual account. Providers can separately process IP addresses and request details for network operation and security; that technical logging is not the aggregate product analytics database.
The earlier browser-journey collector, which used a random browser identifier and could link it to a signed-in account, has been retired. Previously collected journey records expire after 90 days and linked records are removed on account deletion. Account activity and necessary sync diagnostics described above are separate from anonymous counts. Known teens and users without a confirmed adult age range do not contribute new account-linked engagement or referral metrics.
How we use and share information
We use account information to sign you in and send account confirmation and password-reset emails. We use your journal to save your habits, sync across devices, calculate scores, and display trends.
Supabase provides authentication and database storage; Vercel hosts the app; Resend delivers account emails; and Google or Apple authenticates users who choose those sign-in methods. These providers process information needed for their roles. For example, Resend processes your email address and the account email it delivers, while your journal is stored in Supabase. Hosting and authentication services may record technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser details, and errors for service operation and security.
We do not sell your personal information or use your journal or Google account information for advertising. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect the service and its users.
Authorized Habits administrators see aggregate usage and reliability reports, can browse account emails and activity summaries, and can view category names, goals, schedules, and dated category settings for support and product operation. The admin account view excludes weight entries and daily completion history. Administrators can also review support messages with the requester’s email address and update request status. We use this information to improve the app and provide support. We retain this operational information while needed to operate and improve the service; the account access and deletion contact below also applies to it.
Optional browser notifications are delivered through the push service associated with your browser, such as Apple, Google, or Mozilla. The iPhone app schedules reminders locally on your phone. Native reminder preferences are device-specific and separate from browser reminders. Notifications use generic reminder text by default. You can choose to include habit names in notifications on each device; those names may then appear on its lock screen. Goals and weight values are never included. Browser permission and device notification settings control whether they appear.
Storage and security
The app uses HTTPS, and database access rules restrict ordinary users to their own journals. Service administrators and providers may have access needed to operate and support the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Habits uses browser storage to keep you signed in and keep a local journal copy for syncing and recovery. Signing out removes the current account’s local journal copy on that browser. Data may be processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate.
Your choices and retention
You can edit your habits and export your journal from Settings. You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete account after signing in again. Deletion removes your account and saved journal, including weight entries, from the live service. We retain your account and saved journal to provide the service until you delete them. For access, correction, or deletion requests, contact mf@intotheawesome.com. We may need to verify account ownership. Operational logs and backups may remain according to provider retention schedules or legal requirements after deletion from the live service.
You can also revoke Habits’ Google access in your Google Account settings. Revoking Google access does not itself delete your Habits account or journal.
Using Habits on iPhone
You can try Habits without an account. Trial data stays on that device unless you choose to import it into an account. When signed in, your account journal synchronizes with Habits on the web. The iPhone app keeps a local journal for offline use and recovery, applies iOS file protection and excludes its local database from device backups. Trial data and unsynced edits cannot be recovered from those backups; account sync or an export can keep another copy. Credentials are stored in the iPhone Keychain. Conflicting changes require your choice before one version replaces another.
If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive an app-specific identity and the email address you share, which may be a private relay address. We store an encrypted Apple authorization credential on the server so we can revoke that access when you delete your account. It is not used for marketing or sent to the Habits app.
Optional Apple Health
You choose whether the iPhone app can read weight, sleep, Exercise minutes and workouts. Habits does not write to Apple Health. Manual tracking works without Health access. Permissions can be changed in Apple Health.
Connecting automatic weight sync authorizes importing the last 30 days and checking for updates when Habits opens and while it is active. Habits saves the latest reading per day, including date, weight, source and reading identifier. If signed in, these copies synchronize to your account through Supabase and appear on the web. Manual entries are protected. Disconnecting Health or deleting the original reading does not remove an already saved Habits copy. You can edit or delete saved entries in Habits; this does not delete the originals in Apple Health. Reconnecting after clearing app storage can import available readings again.
You can link a habit to sleep, Exercise minutes or workout targets. Workout requirements may include activity type, duration, distance or active calories. Habits Sleep Score is an independent estimate using sleep duration, bedtime consistency and interruptions; it is not Apple's Sleep Score. Sleep and workout samples and score details stay in memory on the phone and clear when the app backgrounds. Raw samples, totals, score breakdowns and link settings are not uploaded. A qualifying target can save an ordinary habit check-off, which synchronizes with your journal. Link settings and weight-sync connection state stay on this iPhone, separately for each account. Disabling a link preserves past check-offs. Automatic Health checks currently run while the app is active, not continuously in the background.
Health information is not used for advertising or usage analytics. The iPhone app sends only the anonymous action counts described above; automatic Health updates are excluded. Necessary sync diagnostics remain separate.
Sharing, support and local cleanup
Journal exports are created on your device and may include saved weights. You choose their destination through the system share sheet. Temporary export files are removed after sharing finishes; recipient apps and copies you save are outside that cleanup. Support requests include your message, account identity and app version; your journal and weights are not automatically attached. An interrupted request may leave a local draft for retry. Support follow-up and receipts are sent by email through Resend.
Account deletion removes associated journal, weights, linked support requests and linked usage records from the live service. On the iPhone that completes deletion, Habits also clears that account's local journal, recovery copies, reminder settings and support draft. A separate trial is independent. A disconnected device cannot be cleared remotely until it reconnects. Provider logs, backups and already delivered support emails may remain under applicable retention policies. Shared files and exports remain wherever you saved or sent them.
Age requirement
Habits is for people aged 13 and older. If you are 13–17, ask a parent or guardian for permission before using Habits. Ordinary onboarding does not ask for your age or birthday. An unknown age does not mean we treat you as an adult. If Apple reports that age assurance is required for your account’s region, we request an age range through Apple and any required approval. If that eligibility check fails, you can retry it; we do not substitute an adult declaration. We retain previously supplied age information and known restrictions. When needed, we use Apple’s system approval request for a parent or guardian and keep its result on the device, scoped to that account and update. For required checks, we also verify Apple’s signed app-installation information through our Vercel server, without storing the signed receipt there, and link a hashed installation identifier to your Habits account so we can act on Apple notices withdrawing permission. A verified withdrawal restricts journal access and stops server reminders; support and account deletion remain available. Deleting an account removes its installation links. A minimal hashed withdrawal record may remain to prevent an already withdrawn permission from being restored merely by signing in again. We store the age band, the reported source, your permission acknowledgement, the notice version and a confirmation time, linked to your account when signed in. This is used to restrict access and apply privacy protections, not to target advertising. A local check can be kept on your device before sign-in. We do not receive identity documents or your birthday from this check. An in-app acknowledgement is not independently verified parental consent.
Account-linked engagement analytics and referral attribution are unavailable for known teen accounts and users without a confirmed adult age range. Anonymous daily action totals do not contain age or identity and use the same device preference for everyone. We do not record their account-linked visit/check-in engagement metrics; fixed sync-error diagnostics, authentication/security records and requested support remain necessary to operate the service. We remove previously linked optional analytics, engagement and referral records when an account is identified as a teen. These protections do not remove your journal or history. Teen accounts are not shown prompts to start weight tracking, and Health connections remain optional. No journal or Health information is used for advertising.
Habits does not knowingly permit children under 13 to use the service. An under-13 response stops setup and journal access; it does not create a new account in the normal signup flow. For an existing account, we restrict access and stop reminders while retaining its data for review and deletion assistance. If an age range is incorrect, a teen reaches 18, or you believe a child has supplied information, contact mf@intotheawesome.com. We will review the request, verify authority as appropriate and arrange correction or removal. Do not send identity documents or health records in an initial support message. Account deletion also removes its age record. A non-identifying local under-13 block may remain on the device until site/app data is cleared.
Changes and questions
We will update this page and its effective date when our practices change. Questions about privacy can be sent to mf@intotheawesome.com.
Sharing and invitations
Progress images are prepared on your device. You choose whether to include habit names and where to share the image. Weight, habit goals, your name and email are excluded. Habits does not host a public copy of your progress image. Your chosen recipient or app can retain copies you share.
Personal invite links are for adult accounts and contain a random referral code. When someone visits an invite link, the browser can remember the first valid code for up to 30 days after an adult age range is confirmed. At first sign-in for a new account, we record which account referred it. Existing accounts and self-referrals are excluded. Inviters see only their signup count; authorized administrators see aggregate referral and activation counts. We do not track anonymous click counts or sell this information. Referral records are removed when either associated account is deleted.
